This school’s focus is the practice in Tai Chi Qigong, a style that Sifu Wong Lam Ling perfected by combining internal Qigong practice with external Tai Chi forms. This style stresses uniting the external body and the internal mind. The practice itself embodies Zhàn zhuāng (standing meditation), Chán sī gōng (Silk Coiling forms), Lā jīn(stretching exercise), Tai Chi (external movements) and Dān cāo (foundation practice). While the exercises may appear to be simplistic, it is rather strenuous as Qi circulates through the internal structures including muscles, tendons, bones and fascia. This can be difficult to discern by the untrained eyes. A successful student must put in years of hard work and long practice hours, without which high-level achievements would not be possible.
Considering this, the school has established specific requirements for recruiting new students:
1. Recommendation
This school does not accommodate guest observation. Anyone that wishes to enter the school needs a recommendation from a current student.
Please send your request to the school’s management for assistance if necessary.
2. One year commitment
The fundamental practice that a first-year student must go through can be strenuous and monotonous. A successful candidate must possess the will to persevere and the time and energy to endure the initial stage of establishing the fundamentals. With practice, a student can gradually understand the intricacies of the practice and the importance of the basic forms. All students, existing or new are required to pay the annual tuition as a single payment at the start of the school year.
3. Annual Fee
$4800 per student, paid annually.
4. Class Hours
Monday & Wednesday 7-9 pm (On Zoom)
Tuesday & Thursday 7-9 pm (Walnut Creek school )
Tuesday & Thursday 6-9 am (On Zoom)

New students will have class with Shifu on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:30pm, and Zoom classes on Thursday mornings from 6 :00 - 8:00am.
Other course times will be arranged by Shifu based on the student's personal situation.
5. Rule of Etiquette
Tradition and etiquette are our links to the spiritual heritage of our system. This is a brief explanation of proper behavior for students at the Tai Chi Mantis Institute. By observing these simple rules, we show respect for our Sifu, SiGong and all past Sifus who have developed our system.
1. Bow upon entering or leaving the classroom. This shows respect for all those who have practiced this art before you and whose efforts have kept our system alive so that
you have the opportunity to learn.
2. Students should line up for class in order of seniority, senior students to the front and left. Students who come in late should line up at the back of the class and take their
place when told by the class leader.
3. Sifu or an instructor will start class, at which time; all students will bow to the leader, who will return their bow.
4. Whenever Sifu Wong enters the school, the class leader will stop the class, have all face Sifu and bow.
5. In class you may be asked to teach or correct another student. Do not correct anyone, in class or out, without the direction of Sifu or an instructor. Practice what you have
learned and follow the class.
6. Whenever a senior student works with you, thank him/her and bow.
7. Do not attempt to correct a senior student, even if you think he/she is wrong. This means you are assuming Sifu’s place. You not only offend the senior student but also
demonstrate disrespect and ego to your classmates.
8. If you must leave before the end of class, ask permission of your group leader, find Sifu and bow to him.
9. The proper attire for class is the official Logo Top, loose black pants, black socks and thin soled shoes. A plain black sweatshirt is permissible. Do not wear jewelry to class.
10. Please come to scheduled class on time, ready to practice, and use the front entrance. Notify Sifu or an instructor or leave a phone message in advance if you will be absent.
11. Do not chew gum or candy in the classroom.
Thank you for your participation and cooperation.
